EP 53 - Resilience and Healing in the Face of Tragedy - Meet Regina M Griego
Regina Griego’s life took an unimaginable turn in January of 2013 when a late-night call informed her that her 15-year-old nephew had shot and killed his mother, father, three siblings and her brother. As part of her healing, Regina became her nephew’s guardian, standing by him through seven years of legal turmoil.
Regina’s story is one of courage, conviction, love, compassion, and hope. Her memoir, “Sins of the System,” recounts her harrowing experience and sheds light on the the juvenile justice system and failures of other societal structures including education on gun safety. Through her writing, Regina issues both a warning and a call to action for families, communities, and our nation. The tragedy she faced is a stark reminder of the importance of addressing systemic issues to prevent such heart-wrenching events from happening again.
